Artist Bio

Ruth Shouval lives and works in Houston, Texas. She studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts in Jerusalem, and received her MAE from Rhode Island School of Design in 1996. She became member of its faculty in 1996 and remained there until 2015. Apart from teaching, she worked with kids to create large scale permanent public art installations all over the world including at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence and at Kolter Elementary School in Houston. In 2012, following her acceptance to PrintHouston Next, a national biennial of contemporary print juried by Dena Woodall, curator of prints and drawings at MFAH, Shouval was offered representation at the Barbara Davis Gallery. She has since showed her work at numerous exhibitions there, as well as at juried shows and art fairs in Houston, Austin and Providence, and won first prize at PrintTX 2015, a biennial juried show in Houston.
